Every preemie child has to deal with his own battles. Many have trouble using their fine motor skills. This means they have trouble picking up small objects, delays in walking, and speech.
We’ve been working with the little guy but he’s almost 2 and can only say one and a half words; Mama and Dada. Sure there are some grunts and groans that both Jodi and I understand to be “banana” and “up”. While dealing with this…BING…a light went on….Jodi and I started teaching Morgan sign language.
Now the problem is Jodi and I don’t know sign language. We’re both on a mission now to learn a word a day. This gave me a new idea, I should post Morgan’s sign language development (along with Jodi and mine). Which also brings us to “End of the Week Signs”. For the next few months I’m going to post a video on Fridays teaching a new sign…but it’s not really going to be me teaching you, it’ll be Morgan.
And today Morgan wants to teach you to say, FOOD PLEASE.
The boys love my hats. They think it’s so funny to take them off my head and then put them back on. I think this may have been the second sign he ever learned.
Now here’s Morgan teaching you how to say “HAT”
I’m questioning if Kade really knows what the word “ALL DONE” means. Funny how he says it then stuff yogurt in his mouth. We’ll have to work on that.
Like I mentioned a few times on Facebook, Morgan’s favorite thing in PEDs was a red wagon the nurses brought in for him. Every time he would wake up the first thing he would do is sign “Daddy, Wagon, Please”. Though he was in isolation the doctors and nurses let him ride around the floor with his cute little mask on.
After passing a number of tests, which included spending an hour in the playroom. Boy I wish my doctor visits involved a playroom. Morgan was discharged on Saturday. He’s doing a lot better but the doctors say it’s going to be a few months of recovery. Jodi and I are still full of stress and panic. We’re hoping that in the next few months we’ll be able to sleep, but having a kid close to death can keep you up at night.
On a webcomic note. With everything that’s gone on over the last week I won’t be updating my webcomic till next Monday. Till then keep dropping by for Morgan updates.
Both my boys love to eat however what they really LOVE to do is put food on their heads…and in their ears….and eyes…and nose.
I’m in charge of the morning feedings, so my wife can get a few extra minutes of rest before being left with the two monsters. I cook up oatmeal while the two boys split a banana. The three of us will laugh, sing and have a great time. This never lasts long because when I least expect it…chaos erupts!
Morgan and Kade will decide they’re done with breakfast which is when the screaming begins and food starts flying. I try and tackle everything that is happening but sadly I’m never quick enough. Before I know it the boys are covered from head to toe in squashed banana, crushed cereal and soaked in milk.
How on earth my wife manages to keep our house and the kids so clean through out the day is just amazing. I can’t even go 10 minutes with out the kids having smooched banana on their heads.
Kade recently turned one. Because his brother had been in the hospital’s PICU a few days before Kade’s birthday we weren’t able to have a party for him
Morgan was under house arrest and had to be kept away from any germs that might be lurking around.
Instead we had a small family birthday party with the 4 of us. We wanted to share a little of the day with our family and friends.
I had read at Morgan’s age he would begin to sort. That kids around 2 years old like to put things in there place and to organize toys. I never thought it would manifest as hoarding.
